Tucked away in the idyllic northwest corner of Connecticut and just over two hours from the hustle and bustle of New York City or Boston, Winvian is set in 113 acres of nature. Surrounding us and directly accessible from our grounds is the famous White Memorial Foundation with 4,000 acres for hiking, biking, horseback riding and snow shoeing . Explore the area during our fair summers, go for a walk and kick the glorious leaves of fall, be active in the pristine winter snow, wake up and, for once, literally smell the roses in the spring. Each cottage aims to inspire, to make guests linger, to open all the cupboards, to delve into each nook and cranny. Fifteen architects have extended their craft and their vision to create eighteen cottages and a hotel experience like no other. No need to talk about the bed or the amenities (top class as they are) when no two walls are the same, a reflection of each architect’s genius. The bathrooms, a continuation of the spa, are also designed to transport you from reality into a place of calm.
Winvian’s cuisine aims to suit guests’ palate and mood. Chris Eddy, Executive Chef, and his team are culinary craftsmen who alternatively create healthy fare, delectable comfort food or sultry desserts. Using at times simple, crisp and seasonal ingredients or unusual and fresh findings to present varied gastronomic experiences, their hope is to create unhurried repasts that gratify all the senses. Experience a cuisine at its best which is complemented by outstanding and eclectic finds from wineries around the globe.
Winvian’s Spa is a place not to be rushed, with not a white coat in sight to prune or pluck. Gently stretch alone or with a yoga master, spend the day being pampered with a capital P or simply rest, for as long as you wish, in the sunlight sauna. The Winvian Spa is a 5,000 square foot escape and features six signature treatment rooms, men’s and ladies’ changing rooms, unisex Physiotherm sunlight sauna, and a relaxation lounge, overlooking the gardens and reflecting pool, which features private enclaves, a juice & tea bar along with a light, spa conscious menu upon request.
Complimentary to all guests, on site: muck boots and wet weather gear for hiking, guided nature walks, games room featuring ‘salon’ sized pool table, table top shuffleboard, foosball table and dartboard, croquet, badminton, quoits and horseshoes, playground room/fitness area, concierge services, snow shoes and cross country skis.
We can arrange a variety of offsite activities for you to enjoy. These activities are subject to availability and may involve additional costs. Activities include horseback riding, canoeing, golf, guided river fly fishing, tennis, car racing, hot air ballooning, clay shooting, and glass blowing workshops.
