This New England-style property combines the atmosphere of an inn with that of a small hotel.
One- and two-story buildings dot exceptionally well-landscaped grounds skirting a long beach and protected cove with a marina. Wide-plank pine floors and designer fabrics dominate public areas.
Recreational facilities include five tennis courts, lawn games, bicycles, volleyball, sailing, a heated pool and a fitness room. A children's club entertains the younger visitors in season and offers water sports and organized activities, such as the popular sandcastle competition (which attracts the attention of adults just as much as kids). Guests can enjoy temporary member privileges at the exclusive Cape Cod National Golf Club, where a strict dress code is enforced, and there are also rules regarding handicaps—this is, after all, the premier turf club on the Cape.
Guest rooms blend pleasant country decor with pastel and primary colors, knotty-pine accents, and king, queen or double beds topped with quilted spreads. Upper-level rooms feature cathedral ceilings. Standard fixtures run to coffeemakers, irons, ironing boards, mini bars, cable TVs, dual-line phones with data ports and voice mail, umbrellas and air conditioning. Room service is on call 7 am to 11 pm, and turndown service is provided each evening. Pets are not permitted.
The persistent local staff does its best to convey an air of worldliness, and is efficient and professional. This modest seaside hotel, open April to November, attracts well-to-do couples and families who want more contemporary surroundings.
