The Stafford London
The Stafford London is situated in the heart of St. James‘s/Piccadilly area; with direct access to Green Park, and a stone's throw away from Buckingham Palace, St. James's Park, London's theatre district and favourite shopping destinations including Fortnum and Mason, Bond Street and Jermyn Street.
The hotel has recently been thoughtfully and lovingly restored, from fully marbled bathrooms to individually decorated and furnished bedrooms. Naturally, The Stafford offers such modern amenities as air-conditioning throughout, complimentary wireless internet access, US power sockets; satellite television, 24-hour room service, computer modem and fax points in the room, valet and direct dial telephones with personal message facilities. The hotel is just one of a handful in London to achieve AA Red Star status.
Great food and wines play a large part in staying at The Stafford. Executive Chef Brendan Fyldes creates a range of modern, British and classical dishes to tempt all palates for both the Lyttelton restaurant and the American Bar.
The Stafford is the perfect setting to enjoy the art of Afternoon Tea at the heart of where this English ritual first began. The Lady Lyttelton Afternoon Tea is in honour of Lady Sarah Lyttelton, the historic owner of the Main House at The Stafford, and Lady in Waiting to Queen Victoria. Our Lady Lyttelton Afternoon Tea is served in The Lyttelton lounge and restaurant being the former dining room and drawing room of the Lyttelton family and their distinguished guests. This tea features a signature Lady Lyttelton cake: the ‘Tipsy’ cake aptly named with layers of jams, cream and a tipple of Madeira reminiscent of the cakes enjoyed by ladies during the Victorian era.
In the buzzing and historical American Bar the drinks are long, the conversation lively and the light fare always delicious. Spend hours gazing over the memorabilia adorned on the walls and ceilings of the American Bar, or enjoy one of Benoit Provost's signature Stafford cocktails.
For private dining or meetings, we have five private dining rooms available including our stunning 350-year old Wine Cellars, which holds over 8,000 bottles of wine. For those looking for a truly memorable dining experience whilst in London, our Master Sommelier Gino Nardella, who has been with us at The Stafford for 33 years, can be on hand for your own personal wine tasting experience in the wine cellars or to simply assist with choices from our delectable wine menu, all personally chosen by Gino himself.
Above the Cellars lies our charming Carriage House with views overlooking The Stafford's 18th Century courtyard. Originally built as stables in the 18th century, this building now accommodates 11 spacious guest rooms and suites in addition to the 68 rooms in the main house and the 26 suites in The Mews. All of the rooms are named after horses that were previously in the stables, and have retained their original features; some of the room's even open like stable doors!
