The Marlborough Lodge started its life as a convent in 1901 and underwent a complete renovation and opened in 2017 as a 10 Suite Luxury Lodge. Surrounded by the world renowned Marlborough Vineyards and nestled in 16 acres of gardens this idyllic haven is the ultimate retreat to return to after a day exploring the exception Marlborough Region.

The décor of The Marlborough Lodge is a mix where some of the historic elements blended with a contemporary design creating a sense of warmth and welcome when you arrive. Each room is different in regards to décor and shape the latter due to the building and the former because they have created a sense of home. All have large ensuite bathrooms with walk in showers, separate bath tub and underfloor heating. All modern amenities are provided in the room.

The rooms at The Marlborough Lodge are designed to connect guests with the beautiful gardens that surround the Lodge either with multiple windows in the room or French doors that lead onto the balcony or directly into the garden. With a variety of space indoors and out for guests to relax in and a large outdoor fireplace where we serve pre dinner drinks and canapés each evening. The onsite restaurant serves an a la carte menu which changes daily and show cases the exceptional produce from our property and the surrounding region along with the magnificent lamb, beef, venison and wide array of seafood that can be found within 30 mins.

The Marlborough region is known for its world class wine although this is just one of the attractions of the region. Just 20 mins drive away is the magnificent Marlborough Sounds a vast waterway where native bush runs down to the waters edge and hardly a soul to be found. This is one of NZ’s jewels and where you will find the locals come their holiday time.

With hiking trails along its shores, hidden coves it is best explored by boat. The array of marine life such as dolphins, seals and the occasional whale can be found along with numerous birds with a native bird sanctuary on one of the islands.

With wine there is always food and we have a multitude of artisan producers from cheese makers, charcuterie, manuka honey to home made chocolates to tempt.
