The Little Nell

The Little Nell
hotel in Aspen, Colorado is a five-star luxury ski in - ski out hotel  that happens to be Classictravel.com's #1 pick for ski hotels in the U.S. The Little Nell is ideally situated at the foot of Aspen Mountain and minutes away from Aspen Highlands, Buttermilk, and Snowmass.  Aspen is perfectly located, with access to four world class mountains.  The Little Nell combines great skiing and outdoor activities with immaculate service and limitless luxury.  This is the type of hotel where even the most basic rooms feature Belgian wool carpeting and goose down bedding, and where the specially designated ski concierge will warm your boots and gloves for you before you hit the slopes.

There’s hardly anything ‘standard’ about the Standard Town View and Standard Mountain Side rooms at The Little Nell.  At many other hotels, these 600 square foot rooms would be amongst the most lavish of the accommodations.  Individually decorated, no two guestrooms are alike, and inside they are warmly decorated with gas-burning fireplaces, Belgian wool carpeting, goose-down sofas or lounge chairs, and oversized beds outfitted with custom-designed ultra-soft linens.  Additional comforts include a 42-inch flat-screen LCD TV, a fully equipped media center, and high speed internet access.  The bathrooms feature granite vanities with two sinks, soaking tubs, and separate shower stalls with rain showerheads.  Furthermore, views overlook either the bustling streets of downtown Aspen, or the formidable slopes that surround the hotel.  These Little Nell rooms are indeed setting a new ‘standard’ for standard rooms everywhere.

Meanwhile, The 1,250 square-foot Executive Suites boast all of the aforementioned features plus original artwork culled from the hotel’s private collection, a Meile Espresso station, and a fully equipped wet bar with an icemaker and a Sub Zero beverage cooler.  The master bathroom features a large Jacuzzi and a steam shower.  Best of all, a private balcony shows off unforgettable views of Aspen Mountain.

The Paepcke Suite is the definition of mountain lodge luxury.  This 2,500 square-foot masterpiece is done in maple-paneled walls and elegant hardwood floors.  The spacious private balcony overlooks the lively scene at the base of Aspen Mountain.  Than there’s the log fireplace, full-service wet bar, original artwork, master bathroom with heated floor and oversized Jacuzzi, and beautiful furnishings.

The Little Nell
sits at the foot of Aspen mountian for easy access to the lifts which gives skiers unparalleled access to Ajax mountain.  Skip the lines, and lifts, by signing up for a powder tour, in which two guides and a driver lead your group on a Snowcat tour of the best trails based on the day’s conditions.  Or rent a snowmobile and zoom down groomed trails with panoramic views of the Maroon Bells, Independence Pass, and the historic ‘Ghost Town’ of White River National Forest.  Snowshoeing offers a slower, more leisurely way to enjoy the majesty of this winter wonderland, as does dog sledding.  Indulge in a half-day trip that includes either a four-course lunch or a twilight dinner.  Driven by thirteen Alaskan sled dogs and an experienced musher, allow these trained huskies to whisk you through Colorado’s backcountry for an unforgettable experience.  The Little Nell’s ski concierge will arrange your rentals and lift ticket purchases, fine-tune your equipment, and even see to it that you are at the peak of comfort by warming your boots and gloves.  The personal attention of the dedicated ski concierge truly sets the Little Nell apart from other luxury ski destinations.

For thoes of you that choose to vist Aspen in the warmer months, take advantage of the many choices of outdoor activities. Spring and Summer brings the chance to go flyfishing, hiking through unspoiled wilderness, or whitewater rafting down roaring rapids.  Whitewater rafting is the most popular activity for visitors and locals alike, and offers everything from the lazy float to the thrill of careening through the rapids.  Meanwhile, endless trails await you for activities like mountain biking and hiking.  There are literally thousands of trails which will take you through meadows of wildflowers, along winding rivers, and through geological landmarks.  Learn more about the flaura, fauna, and geology of the area by taking a guided tour of the Maroon Bells and Crater Lake.  Another great activity is horseback riding through the rugged beauty of the Elk Mountain Range and Mount Daly.

No matter when you are visiting make sure you enjoy a jovial lunch or dinner at the Little Nell’s elegantly understated restaurant Montagna, which serves up farm-fresh Rocky Mountain artisan cuisine.  Head chef Ryan Hardy sources almost all of the food from local farms and ranches, including his own 15- acre, organic ‘Rendezvous Farms,’ where he grows produce and raises livestock.  Furthermore, the Little Nell’s 20,000-bottle wine cellar is amongst the finest in The Rockies.  On the other hand, Ajax Tavern is where executive chef Jim Butchart serves unique bistro food inspired by Colorado’s bounty of sustainably raised meats and produce.  In 2008, Ajax Tavern was named as the best outdoor dining in Aspen. Just like Montagna, the Ajax Tavern has quite the wine list.  Try the Colorado lamb Bolognese, the truffle fries, the excellent raw bar, or the burger which has been lauded as the best in Aspen.

The fitness center at The Little Nell features state of the art strength training equipment, cardiovascular exercise machines, elegantly appointed changing rooms, and highly skillful massage therapists.

So if you’re looking for a ski getaway or the perfect summer escape, the luxurious Little Nell hotel in Aspen is allways the perfect choice! Lavish accommodations, gourmet dining, impeccable service, and ski-in, ski-out convenience make The Little Nell our pick when staying in Aspen.
