The Alpina Gstaad
A small Alpine village, long a favored mountain destination in both winter and summer, welcomes its newest luxury hotel. Crowning Gstaad's exclusive hilltop area of Oberbort, just five minutes from the center of the village, The Alpina Gstaad overlooks beautiful Saanenland in the heart of the Bernese Alps. It is the first luxury hotel to be built in Gstaad in 100 years. The Alpina Gstaad has three restaurants, a bar and lounge, a wine tasting room, a private cinema, a cigar room, a ballroom and several boardrooms. The 21,500-square-foot spa offers holistic treatments and rejuvenation programs and includes a hammam, a fitness center and an 82-foot lap pool. A large outdoor swimming is set in the gardens.
The Alpina Gstaad is the first completely new five-star hotel in Gstaad to open in this traditional Swiss village for more than a century - a stately address built in the local style with fresh and modern textures layered upon antique woods.
It is a place where authenticity meets Swiss luxury, commitment to the true Gstaad showing in every turn of the chisel, in the hewing of stone, wood carving and authentic leatherwork by local craftsmen. This sense of place includes spectacular mountain views from 56 rooms and suites - all with balconies - ranging from 333 square feet for a standard room to 4,305 square feet for the Panorama Suite.
Six Senses Spa at The Alpina Gstaad is a holistic spa destination informed by Asian wellness traditions, which are offered alongside locally inspired Swiss Alpine treatments. The nurturing environment encourages a spa journey centered. Subscribing to the Six Senses Spa philosophy of ‘Balancing Senses’, the 2000sq m space has a natural feel with curved walls, water features, timbers and wells of sunshine, while the outdoor pool makes the most of Alpine location, the water reflecting the peaks beyond.
Dining at The Alpina Gstaad draws upon authentic Swiss traditions in food and wine combined with modernist cooking techniques and creative presentations. Every restaurant features a selection of signature dishes and tasting menus, alongside some all-time classics.
All restaurants share a single floor of the hotel with floor-to-ceiling glass doors flowing onto an outdoor terrace. The terrace has fire-pits burning on winter days and summer nights, and is surrounded by our Jean Mus-designed garden and the Alpine peaks.
The modern Japanese cuisine introduces a new style of dining to Gstaad and the Bernese Oberland. Megu at The Alpina Gstaad is the first European location of the celebrated Megu concept, with its flagship in New York.
The Restaurant Sommet at The Alpina Gstaad is all about casual, convivial fine dining with family and friends where you can enjoy creative all-day menus, some of the best steaks in town and a unique tasting menu by famed chef. Alpina Gstaad's wine selection with 400 labels of hand-picked rarities from around the world will please the connoisseur.
At the Swiss Stübli, Swiss restaurant, you enter the very heart of commitment to the local region with a quintessential Alpine experience that feels at once chic and convivial. After a day hiking or skiing in the mountains, there is nowhere better to indulge on the country's delicacies. Classic dishes from all over Switzerland are re-interpreted and presented with a contemporary twist, while a cosy ambience is afforded by antique timber panels and elegant carving. This makes for a rustic place to enjoy a classic raclette or fondue.
The Alpina Lounge & Bar encapsulates the energy of breathtaking location. An entire exterior wall of floor-to-ceiling windows connects the space to the terrace outside. It’s as if you’re sitting in the mountain bowl itself, with a fireplace and bar to one side.
Alpina Gstaad's wine Room at The Alpina Gstaad is designed as if it might belong to an elegant private home in the Alps. Here groups of friends and wine lovers can be entertained in convivial style while enjoying fine vintages - including many of Swiss provenance.
The handsome masculinity of the Cigar Lounge at The Alpina Gstaad is based on one of Havana’s most famous establishments. Chic, 1930s glamour is reflected in the warm colour palette, while the cigar selection is for true aficionados. The walk-in humidor features a selection of over 50 cigars.
