Sunset Tower
This hotel has a past as varied and star-studded as the city it inhabits. The Sunset Tower Hotel formerly The Argyle introduces a refined new alternative for travelers. Designed in 1929, the Sunset Tower Hotel served as home to such luminaries as Howard Hughes, Marilyn Monroe and Frank Sinatra. The onsite restaurant, Tower Bar, used to be Bugsy Siegel's apartment. This landmark 1929 tower the crown jewel of the Sunset Strip has reopened after an extensive renovation by internationally renowned designer Paul Fortune, which stripped away original Art Deco trappings and replaced them with a contemporary, subdued look. The restoration also eschewed modern Hollywood and its lack of class for a mood honoring the decorum of yesteryear. Located in the heart of the famed Sunset Strip, adjacent to Beverly Hills and minutes from all of the major studios and downtown Los Angeles.
Interior colors would be right at home in a classic steakhouse---you won't find any pretense or ingratiating playfulness here. Instead, custom furnishings and artwork adorn suites and bedrooms, which are equipped with floor-to-ceiling windows, iPod stations and wireless high-speed Internet. Two penthouse apartments have enviable views, and the Argyle Salon & Spa boasts a traditional Turkish hammam.
