One&Only Cape Town
One&Only Cape Town is the best luxury hotel in Cape Town if not South Africa. We realize that’s a pretty big statement to make for a town that has at least three other hotels we love. What gives the One&Only Cape Town its edge is its restaurants and bars. Rueben’s restaurant, and Nobuyuki Matsuhisa's Nobu restaurant get star ratings in whatever city they are. A spectacular tri-level wall of glass and steel commands the entrance to Reuben's. Here you will discover a magnificent collection of 5,000 bottles with particular emphasis given to both acclaimed and undiscovered South African vintages.
World-class master chef Nobuyuki ‘Nobu’ Matsuhisa expands his eponymous empire with the debut of his first restaurant in Africa. His innovative blend of classically styled Japanese cuisine incorporates fresh South African seafood and indigenous spices to create unique dishes such as toro tartar, rock shrimp and Scallops Tiradito and Chocolate Bento Box. Nobu is an inviting open space with a stunning piece of contemporary art adorning the ceiling. Reuben’s by Reuben Riffel serves deceptively simple, wholesome bistro fare, with fresh flavours, generous portions and beautifully plated dishes. The restaurant has a sophisticated but unfussy, brasserie feel and the food provides the exciting combination of local flavours you would expect from one of SA’s most loved chefs. An open air venue catering to guests around the pool area, an Italian style “Isola” which means Italian for Island, features a pizza oven and an all day menu of refreshing snacks. You may also enjoy breakfast.
One&Only Cape Town is located in the heart of the city with, of course, wonderful views of Table Mountain. The exterior is plain compared to the interior. There are two sections. One is the Spa Tower with 40 suites and the other is the Marina Rise with 91 rooms. The latter with sophisticated dark-lacquered woods and terra-cotta. However, all the guest rooms and suites are large and have touches of African art work, giving them a feel of a home rather than a hotel. Amenities include flat-screen cable TVs, complimentary wireless and wired high-speed Internet, laptop-sized safes, CD/DVD players, Bose surround sound stereos, espresso machines and MP3 docking stations.
The upscale cocktail lounge, Vista Bar, is situated in the center of the lobby where guests can mingle and listen to live music in the afternoon or to a DJ spinning into the night while sipping cocktails and taking in views of Table Mountain. Poolside dining at Isola restaurant is offered as well.
The One&Only Cape Town resort's exclusive Spa Island, on its own island, features a variety of treatments, two vitality pools and a full-service salon. Unusually nice aspects are the relaxation room chairs and hot-water pool with high-pressure goose-neck jets. Additional features include a full fitness center, shower experiences with varying pressures, and saunas and steam rooms. Wireless high-speed Internet is available throughout the hotel without charge.
A 24-hour butler serves all accommodations to unpack or repack bags, draw baths or arrange for round-the-clock room service. All guest rooms are smoke-free.
