Public rooms fashioned from the old treasury are strikingly appointed with historic mementos and new designer furniture. Rustic stone arches and well-upholstered seating create a very comfortable environment in the skylighted three-story atrium, where a pianist entertains at tea time.
Guests and visitors alike enjoy the new contemporary restaurant Mint. Boasting a regional menu with daily fresh ingredients and stylish surroundings, this venue is a welcome addition and is especially busy for lunch.
Guests unwind in the well-equipped health club, with top-flight exercise equipment, personal trainers, a pool, a sauna, steam rooms and a massage room. The independently operated day spa and hair salon is the perfect refuge for the stressed executive. Meeting space for 500 people, a business center and a shopping arcade complete the offerings. Valets park cars. Pets are not permitted here.
Keycards open beautifully renovated, air-conditioned guest rooms. Cheerful tones and textures set the scene for plush patterned carpeting, upholstery and wall coverings. Fittings run to contemporary furniture, TVs, minibars, and one king or two double beds with bedside controls. Ample closets feature stylish full-length mirrors, and granite and tiled combination baths supply hair dryers, phones and extensive toiletries. For the business traveler, there are large well-designed desks, high-speed Internet access, and three dual-line speakerphones with voice mail and data ports.
Rates for identical rooms vary greatly by location. Premium-level floors 27-30 offer access to the club lounge with a balcony for breakfast and cocktails. It is almost like a hotel within a hotel and as mentioned before the views are to die for. All but two floors (48 rooms) are now smoke-free, and two rooms are designated for travelers in wheelchairs. Room service is always on call.
