Since then, the family has restored, rather than modernized, the estate buildings, in order to offer luxury accommodations to the most discerning travelers: countryside farmhouses and village buildings, a row of villa apartments, shops and a church, all with wooden floors, earthen stone walls and terracotta roofs.

Villa il Borro is undoubtedly the jewel in the crown of this Tuscan estate. Built in the latter part of the 19th century by Austrian royalty, this imposing villa stands majestically above the medieval village with views leading out over the farm to the distant hills of Arezzo. Painstakingly restored in the 1990’s after extensive damages incurred both during the war and through the ravages of time, the villa now offers the ultimate luxury Tuscan haven for the most truly discerning guests. Combining a fascinating mixture of Austrian and Tuscan architecture on the outside and interior decoration in the European aristocratic style, to stay here is not simply a holiday destination but a real life experience.
Make Il Borro your home in Tuscany: all of the luxury farmhouses of the estate, although differing in individual character, have all been restored with comfort and practicality in mind, to give our guests the best holiday rentals here in Tuscany and fully enjoy their stay. Each farmhouse is fitted with modern kitchens with washing machine, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, hob-cooker, crockery and utensils. Luxurious bathrooms contain shower, bath, faucet units, toilet and bidet and fresh towels are provided. Bedrooms have either queen size double or two large single beds which are made up prior to arrival with fresh linen appropriate to the season. Each holiday farmhouse also has satellite TV, safe, telephone, hairdryer, ironing facilities, and the use of a swimming pool during the summer months.
Tuscany wines and wine tours at Il Borro, Ferragamo winery...The estate, which extends over 700 hectares currently has 40 hectares of that land dedicated to vines. The soil has an excellent structure with a good sandy composition which denotes itself to the growing of five varieties of vine: Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese and Petit Verdot.
In addition to wine, extra virgin olive oil from the centuries old groves that practically cover the hillsides has represented an extraordinary resource since the Middle Ages. The estate itself boasts over five thousand olive trees which every year produce a robust yet pure Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Wine, Olive Oil and Honey can be purchased year round either in shop at Il Borro winery.
Il Borro has the unique advantage of being situated at the very centre of an area steeped in history and tradition. Remains of the ancient Roman road Via Clodia runs through the farm, demonstrating that the original Borro castle would have been at a mid-way point between the confines of the Tevere and Arno rivers in those days, with the chaotic and violent history of those times shaping the land and people living on it. Fortunately for the modern day traveler means of transport have improved and visits to the major historical and cultural cities can be achieved in one day.
Take a half day shopping trip to the designer outlets of Ferragamo, Ungaro, Prada, Gucci, Dolce e Gabbana, Fendi and Armani. Hot-air ballooning - possibly the most breathtaking way to see Tuscany, taking off from the Borro airstrip and landing wherever the air currents take you – a real adventure!
