Hotel de Rome, A Rocco Forte Hotel
The Hotel de Rome gives you that “WOW” when you enter the enormous high ceilinged lobby. “I picked the right place” you will think to yourself. It’s just a bit intimidating, but that’s exactly one of the things that put grand-new hotels on the map. The attention to detail begins in the public areas, and doesn’t end there. Every accommodation is unique. You won’t tire of your room here. I stayed for a week and didn’t want to leave.
Hotel de Rome’s 109 rooms and 37 suites are on five floors. The rooms and suites on the lower floors have higher ceilings but that seems irrelevent as the higher floor rooms have ceilings that are over nine feet tall. They’re decorated in tones of cream, blue and red.
Even the standard rooms are beautiful and well appointed. You’ll have plenty of outlets for all your technical needs. The baths have separate showers and tubs. The air conditioning is so quiet (a true sign of a luxury hotel) that when I first arrived I had to check if it was turned on.
Hotel de Rome, A Rocco Forte Hotel is located on Bebelplatz, off Unter den Linden. It is a conversion of an existing building constructed in 1889 by architect Ludwig Heim appointed master builder of the government, which housed the head office of Dresdner Bank until 1945. This is one of the few luxury hotels in Berlin located in an original building making use of its full architectural splendor and thereby offering guests an authentic Berlin experience. The ornate and classical design of the original building has been given a contemporary twist by designer Tommaso Ziffer, who also designed the Hotel de Russie in Rome.
The Restaurant at Rocco Forte Hotel De Rome seats 120 and looks onto a large external terrace which will be used for al fresco dining during the summer months. Chefs at Rocco Forte Hotel De Rome offer a cuisine based on traditional Mediterranean cooking. The bar has a contemporary feel. It features a long bar overlooking Bebelplatz and a colonnaded area with an original mosaic floor. The Opera Court is a grand room with its original glazed ceiling. It is the focal point for coffee and afternoon tea. During the summer months our roof top terrace offers a breathtaking view over the city.
The Spa at Rocco Forte Hotel De Rome has a plunge pool, steam, sauna and relaxation area, and a fully-equipped gym. The original vault of the bank has become a 20 meter swimming pool. A range of therapies and health and beauty treatments are provided in the six treatment rooms.
