Hotel Caesar Augustus
The Hotel Caesar Augustus, perched on a site a thousand feet above the Bay of Naples, was originally built in the 1850s as the private residence of a wealthy German businessman. In the early 1900s, a Russian Prince purchased the property and transformed it into a still more majestic residence, even commissioning a lifesize statue of Emperor Augustus Caesar (a replica of the original, found at Rome's Villa Livia). It still stands on the same spot today!
The Signorini family took over the ownership in the mid 20th century, turning the property into a sumptuous hotel. Today, the 5 star property retains its historic charm, but has been newly renovated to include 21st century conveniences such as Jacuzzi tubs, satellite television, and WiFi access.
The Hotel has 55 Guest rooms, including 31 Junior Suites, 11 suites, four of which are designated "special" suites. One is aptly named the Caesar Suite. The enormous suite is stunning, built on an open space, with columns and arches separating the bedroom from the sitting area; exposed brick; a terra cotta floor; and antique furniture. There are two bathrooms ,the biggest with a large Jacuzzi. A comfortable seating and dining area with huge windows opens onto an expansive terrace and a private garden.
The views are stunning from everywhere, looking out over the Bay of Naples to Mount Vesuvius, Sorrento, Ischia, and Capri Town below. An iron gate leads to a small private garden boasting native flora; a lovely spot to enjoy your morning coffee.
The Caesar Augustus is the perfect place for a romantic escape, honeymoon or a special anniversary On the island of Capri, lunch quite simply has to be served "al fresco". Somehow Capri's legendary "pagliarelle" are all more delicious when tasted on the hotel's elegant terraces overlooking Capri's most spectacularly stylish infinity swimming pool. In the evening, under a starlight sky and lulled by the gentle breaking of the waves on the cliffs of Capri below, the luxury hotel's dining room is transformed into an extremely elegant candlelit paradise, ensuring dinners that are a truly memorable culinary experience.
The Hotel is never too crowded, because of the neverending outside panoramic spaces that even includes a two acres kitchen organic vegetable garden, that every guest can visti maybe with the help of our chef. But, if you like precious special moments of intimacy, there always is the low season when the weather is still wonderful and you can enjoy the chance of a special offer or, maybe , a free upgrade.
