The Four Seasons Washington, D.C.

The Four Seasons Washington D.C. is a stately hotel truly fit to be the premier luxury destination for a city of diplomats, dignitaries, and intrigue on both the national and international levels.  The accommodations here are lavish enough that many visiting ambassadors and heads of state are probably tempted to stay here rather than going back to their respective homes, no matter how palatial they may be.

Set in two separate east and west wings that are connected by a glass-enclosed walkway, the guestrooms at The Four Seasons Washington D.C. are magnificent.  The standard guestrooms; The Superior Rooms, have been designed by Pierre Yves-Rochon, and overlook either the Chesapeake and the Ohio Canal or the hotel’s quiet courtyard garden.  The marble bathrooms feature a limestone, granite-topped vanity and a limestone glass-stall shower with massage handheld showerhead.

The crown jewel of the Four Seasons is the aptly-named Royal Suite, decorated with crystal fixtures that contrast with the rich wood and iridescent shell details in a silvery palette.  The interior opens to a 1,000 square foot furnished terrace that overlooks the Georgetown rooftops and the city below, and there’s a media room with a 60 inch television with digital surround sound.  Perhaps best of all, a luxury car and private driver are at your disposal for up to four hours a day, and you can even utilize the assistance of your own personal shopper at a selection of department stores.  Also of note are The Premier Rooms, which reflect the chic Parisian style of interior design.  These rooms feature custom-designed furniture, 32 inch LCD flat-screen high definition TVs, recessed overhead individual reading lights with bedside dimmers, and fully limestone bathrooms with granite-topped double sink vanities, a deep soaking tub, and a separate shower with massage and hand-held shower heads.  All of the Four Season Washington D.C.’s rooms match the elegance and refinement of the elite Georgetown neighborhood that surrounds the hotel.

At Bourbon Steak, the on-site restaurant at the Four Seasons Washington D.C., award-winning head chef Michael Mina serves up a menu that focuses on the finest meats and seafood available both locally and worldwide.  Some of the great dishes here include Fresh Louisiana Gulf shrimp, spice-poached and served in a Belvedere cocktail sauce, and Pan-roasted Amish Chicken, served with truffled macaroni and cheese and a caramelized onion jus.  You can’t go wrong with one of the choice cut steaks from the wood-burning grill at Bourbon Steak.

Meanwhile, the Four Seasons Fitness Club spreads out over three levels and an outdoor terrace, which overlooks the Georgetown neighborhood.  Each cardiovascular workout machine features a television, DVD player, CD player, radio, and individual headset.  Aside from this top-of-the-line workout equipment, Four Seasons guests can also take advantage of the indoor lap pool, where they can swim undisturbed under a skylight and vaulted ceiling.  Then of course there’s the eucalyptus-scented steam room, and saltwater whirlpool.

The Four Seasons Washington D.C. has the advantage of having an address on Pennsylvania Avenue, the same street that The White House is on.  There are three art galleries within a ten minute walk of the hotel; the All Rogers Gallery, the Georgetown Gallery of Art, and the Govinda Gallery, an innovative contemporary gallery that showcases pop art. The Lincoln Memorial, The Smithsonian Institute, The National Mall, and dozens of other iconic attractions are all within the nearby vicinity…For in-depth information about dining, nightlife, shopping, and cultural attractions in Washington D.C., check out our Destination Guide.
