Four Seasons San Francisco

Sea lions lounge on the beaches while eccentric street performers swarm the sidewalks; this is San Francisco, and there’s no better place to stay in this truly unique California city than at The Four Seasons San Francisco.  The Four Seasons San Francisco’s 277 well-appointed guestrooms are the epitome of luxury, and many are enhanced by floor-to-ceiling windows providing unparalleled views of the sparkling San Francisco cityscape.

A pair of swift elevators whisks guests up to the second-floor reception alcove, where arrivals find posh public space and custom furniture. The feel is regional, sumptuous, stylish and serene. Exquisite art catches the eye at every turn (the Matisse hardly stands out). Smart marble inlays and thick carpets add style, and artistic glass and fiber-optic lighting cap the vaulted ceilings. There is limited seating at the smart reception desk, but little time is spent here as the polished staff is impeccably efficient.

A separate set of swift elevators rise to guest rooms at Four Seasons San Francisco that occupy floors 6 through 17 and open off wide hallways with Venetian sconces. The style is traditional with a contemporary edge and a California palette. Each boasts an entry hall with a sideboard bearing a large minibar and (if accompanying) a children's honor bar as well.

The accommodations at Four Seasons San Francisco are perfectly appointed for the modern traveler, with even the most basic rooms featuring two-line telephones, high-speed wireless internet access, fax connection, CD player, iHome alarm clock, and a large in-room safe that can protect a laptop computer.  On the other hand, there are many rooms that show that luxury has no limit at the Four Seasons San Francisco.  The Executive and Superior Executive Suites, for example, feature 2 LCD televisions on black granite credenzas, black lacquer coffee tables with crackled glass inlays, work areas featuring executive desks, Meseta brown leather Herman Miller desk chairs, plus Artemide Italian desk lamps.  The Specialty Suites feature glass-topped gold leaf coffee tables, ebony sitting chairs, eucalyptus lounge chairs with matching ottomans, and satin white glass light fixtures that exude a residential feel.  Did we mention that all of these rooms feature cavernous master bathrooms finished with marble?  And of course, these luxurious rooms provide the perfect vantage point from which to view the ‘City by the Bay’.

The on-site gourmet restaurant at Four Seasons San Francisco, Seasons utilizes fresh, locally grown ingredients of the highest quality to serve up what can rightfully be called culinary art.  The vibrant restaurant features contemporary décor, with special lighting effects and colorful artwork dramatically offset by dark blue Norwegian granite floors and hardwood finishes.  Seasons is also notable for the Winemaker Series that it frequently hosts, in which local vintners come in to give patrons a taste of their best wines while they dine.  This is a top of the line steakhouse, offering dishes like Snake River Farm American Kobe Flat Iron Steak with chermoula sauce and prime filet served with porcini, peppercorn, and bacon sauce.  But even though the steak would be enough of a draw, Seasons doesn’t limit itself: There’s organic Scottish salmon, mustard-crusted halibut, butter-poached Maine lobster, and much more.

The 10,000 square foot fitness center at Four Seasons San Francisco features a state of the art weight training gym, a cardiovascular center, a full-sized basketball court, a sauna, and a junior-Olympic swimming pool.   Located on the fourth floor of the hotel, the Sports Club/LA spa offers a wide selection of tempting treatments, like massages, reflexology, medical rejuvenation therapies, aromatherapy, peels, wraps, manicures, and pedicures.

Room service at Four Seasons San Francisco operates around the clock. Complimentary overnight shoeshine, twice daily maid service, nightly turndown and daily newspapers are nice perks. Pets are permitted.
