Four Seasons Jackson Hole

The rustic woodlands of Wyoming might not be a place you would expect to find luxury, but The Four Seasons Jackson Hole does a flawless job of mixing trademark Four Seasons lavishness with the natural rustic wonder that is endemic to Wyoming.  Whether you’re here for world-class skiing in the Grand Tetons during the winter, or exploring the unspoiled wilderness during the warmer months, this is a great destination for outdoor enthusiasts any time of year.

The accommodations at Four Seasons Jackson Hole are housed in a ten-story lodge style building, and exude the spirit of a mountain retreat with dark wood, natural stone finishes, and leather insets.  The comfortable, residential-style furniture is arranged around gas-burning fireplaces.  Most of the accommodations open to a private balcony or terrace furnished with a teak table and chairs.  All rooms feature high-speed internet access, three direct-dials, dual-line telephones, and a large television with a DVD entertainment center.  The large, American West-style marble bathrooms feature wicker furniture, stone tiles, colorful area rugs, plus deep soaking tubs; separate-glass encloses showers, and large double vanities.  Rooms provide views of the surrounding mountains and ski hills.

Inspired by the tranquility of the gentle streams and peaceful valleys of the mountain wilderness that surrounds The Four Seasons Jackson Hole, the on-site full-service alpine spa provides a comprehensive range of massages and treatments.  The expansive 11,685 square foot spa features 16 treatment rooms, including two private spa suites consisting of Swiss showers, fireplaces, and deep soaking tubs.  The state of the art equipment at the health and fitness center includes free weights, elliptical trainers, treadmills, and stationary bicycles, and complementary yoga classes are offered.  After a productive workout, guests can relax in the steam room, whirlpool, or cold plunge pool.  An attractive 75-foot heated pool overlooks the Tetons.  Interestingly, it is open year-round, and during the winter months, guests get heated towels and robes along with hot chocolate and s’mores.

Located high in the Rockies, at the doorstep of Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Park, The Four Seasons Jackson Hole is an ideal ski destination.  Winter’s deeps snows offer powder skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, and dog sledding for all skill levels.  Just a short stroll out your door and you’re on the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, home to some of the country’s best skiing and snowboarding trails.  With just 2,000 skiers on the 2,500 acres of trails on an average day, this mountain boasts the lowest skier density of any mountain in the United States.  Sleigh rides and snowshoeing are also available, as is heli-skiing for daring guests.

This area is renowned for its skiing, but there’s plenty to do once the snow melts and the lifts stop for the season.  Explore Grand Teton National Park, with its scenic saw-toothed peaks, glacial lakes, and hundred plus alpine backcountry lakes.  Jenny Lake and Jackson Lake in particular are popular for hiking, canoeing, boating, swimming, and fishing.  Animal lovers will enjoy the National Elk Refuge, a 25,000 acre sanctuary that the Jackson Elk Herd calls home.  With 14,000 members, this is the largest elk herd in the country.  Just a ten minute drive from the Four Seasons Jackson Hole is the Snake River, where the raging white waters make for some of the best rafting in the United States.  It’s not all raging rapids, however; a float trip down some of the more gentle areas is the best way to see the wildlife and scenery of Grand Teton National Park.  There are also plenty of places to fly-fish for trout and whitefish.  Yellowstone Park, America’s oldest and most renowned national park, needs no introduction, and is a 90 minute drive from the hotel.  The park houses over 250 active geysers, including Old Faithful.  The mountainous wilderness refuge is home to grizzly bears, elks, moose, bald eagles, American bison, and wolves.

While Jackson Hole is indeed a rustic wonderland steeped in untouched wilderness, the small city of Jackson is a surprisingly hip, modern city, which features an array of boutiques, art galleries, restaurants, and performing arts venues.

At the Westbank Grill, the Four Seasons Jackson Hole’s restaurant, Executive Chef Simon Purvis uses the freshest seasonal local ingredients to create a menu that captures the spirit of the new American West.  The restaurant features a large stone fireplace, a lively open kitchen, and great views of Rendezvous Peak, creating an inviting atmosphere and giving you the feeling that you’re dining on the frontier.  Sumptuous dishes like huckleberry dusted venison loin, served with a creamy parsnip puree, brussel sprout leaves, artisanal venison sausage, and a huckleberry reduction; or roasted Cannonball Ranch free range buffalo tenderloin, served with caramelized turnip and potato croquette, along with garlic spinach and baby beets, truly put a gourmet twist on authentic western culinary tradition. During the winter months, The Peak is a sophisticated twist on the traditional American steakhouse that has convenient ski-in, ski-out access. Take a midday break from zipping down the mountains and ski in for a smoked turkey and bacon Panini with cranberry relish and garlic herb boursin cheese, or a tasty grilled Angus burger.  The crackling indoor and outdoor fireplaces, décor accented with stone, leather, and brushed steel, make The Peak an inviting place to ski into and have dinner after a long day of skiing in the Grand Tetons. For dinner, enjoy anything from Pacific Northwest Oysters Rockefeller to a wide selection of gourmet Nebraska-raised steaks.

Breathe in the fresh alpine air and marvel at a clear night sky full of stars at the Four Seasons Jackson Hole.
