Fairmont Olympic Hotel

Visit the real-life Emerald City in style by staying at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel.  Resplendent in its Italian Renaissance style architecture, the Fairmont Olympic Hotel is seen as the premier place to go for civic and social events, and the locals can attest to its grandeur- it’s their preferred destination for in-city getaways.  The rooms are decorated in a manner that is traditional yet elegant, and they offer some very nice views of the Seattle skyline.  The crown jewel of the Fairmont Olympic Hotel's rooms is the Cascade Suite, where you will have a breathtaking view of Seattle's Financial Center.  There's also a fully-marble master bathroom complete with a jetted tub. This exclusive suite also contains quintessential American antiques, and a dining room which can easily accommodate twelve guests.

You will be hard-pressed to find a hotel that offers a better ensemble of restaurants.  The Georgian is a true exercise in opulence, complete with Palladian windows and spectacular chandeliers.  The Georgian creates unique dishes that are influenced by a unique combination of both French and Northwestern cooking.  Meanwhile, Shuckers is the oldest and most pre-eminent oyster bar in Seattle, which is no small accomplishment in a city known for its seafood.  The Shuckers menu offers 13 different types of oysters, and you can choose between nine different ways to have them prepared (That's 117 oyster combinations!).  Also on the premises is The Terrace, a hip piano bar that specializes in some interesting beverages, like organic martinis and even dry soda, a non-alcoholic beverage that is subtly infused with aromatic flavors such as lavender, lemon grass, kumquat, and rhubarb.

A sleekly designed indoor pool sits at the center of a beautiful pavillion area featuring Italian architecure and tastefully wood-paneled walls.  There are also saunas, a fully-equipped excersise gym, a spacious lounge area, and two outdoor patios.

Seattle is a thriving city that offers a dazzling array of attractions.  First and foremost among these would have to be the iconic Space Needle, which is perhaps the best known building in the Pacific Northwest.  There's no better place to take in an unobstructed view of "The City in the Clouds" than from the observation deck of the space needle.  The Downtown Waterfront is home to both the Seattle Aquarium and the Oddyssey Maritime Discovery Center.

As for as serious shoppers are concerned, Pike's Place Market is a heaven on Earth, featuring nine acres of specialty shops and restaurants.  Frequented by locals, visitors, and chefs alike, this is the ideal place to select fresh salmon to bring home, choose a handmade child's toy, glass ornament, or locally produced honey and lavender.  You can even sip on a latte in the original Starbucks.  Also of note for shoppers is Pioneer Square, where you will see all kinds of local galleries and artsy shops, like The Northwest Fine Woodworking Studio.  One particularly interesting establishment is the Uwajimaya flagship store, an enormous Japanese department store featuring Asian groceries, gifts, books, and periodicals.

This cosmopolitan city also boasts a vast number of nightlife options.  Whether you prefer the small dive bars of the Pioneer Square neighborhood or the trendy clubs found in Belltown, Seattle's nightlife scene has something for everyone.

Experience this modish, forward thinking metropolis that always seems to be at the vanguard of American culture while still being incredibly welcoming by staying at the Fairmont Olympic, Seattle’s best five star hotel.
