Fairmont Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten

No longer content to wait in the background while Berlin and Munich garner all of the international recognition, the bustling port city of Hamburg has burst onto the world scene as both Germany's wealthiest and second largest city.  This is Germany's media and commerce capital, and you can immerse yourself in the center of all the action in this vibrant 'harbourpolis' by staying at the luxurious Fairmont Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten.

Even the most seasoned nightlife enthusiast will be amazed by Hamburg's array of bars and nightclubs that seems to be constantly growing.  The nightlife scene here is not only burgeoning but also incredibly eclectic, with something for everyone.  You can mingle with Hamburg's elite at the ultra-exclusive Golden Cut, or dance the night away during the 'over 30' disco nights at Fabrik, which is instantly recognizable thanks to its pink exterior and the fact that it's located inside a former foundry.  (There's even a crane jutting from the roof).  Listen to some cutting edge house, techno, and electronic music at venues like Astra-StubeChina Lounge, or the Golden Pudel Club, which is located in what looks like a dilapidated fisherman's hut at the water's edge.  Also located on the waterfront is Strand Pauli, a thatched hut that serves up cocktails and lies on a stretch of sand near the docks.  Also be sure to check out Central Park, an eccentric beach bar without water, or enjoy a refined evening at the classy Tower Bar, which provides spectacular views of the harbor.

The nightlife itself is certainly enough to draw travelers to Hamburg, but there's also plenty of attractions to enjoy in the daytime.  Go to the Fishmarket early on a Sunday morning to watch intense, nonstop trading and haggling between fishermen, vendors, and customers.  This fish market has been around since 1703 and has been described by Lonely Planet as the institution that defines the city's life and spirit.  Than there's Chilehaus, a building designed to resemble an oceanliner, with curved walls that meet to create the shape of a ship's bow and staggered balconies that resemble an oceanliner's decks.  The Elbmeile offers a plethora of waterfront restaurants to grab a meal at, while the Erotic Art Museum needs no explanation.  Watch the relentless activity at the Port of Hamburg, one of the world's busiest harbors, and check out old boats that now host museums like the Cap San Diego and the Rickmer Rickmers.  Then of course there's the Rathaus, the pinnacle of baroque architecture that still stands as one of Europe's most extravagant buildings.

Nearly matching the opulence of the Rathaus is the Fairmont Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten.  Here, the newly rennovated rooms feature custom designed furniture, rich fabrics, refreshing air conditioning, and serene views of Inner Alster Lake. The Fairmont Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten has stood on the western shore of this picturesque lake since 1897, and is an archetypical example of a European 'Grand Hotel.'  The dining here is spectacular- the Michelin-rated Haerlin Restaurant is one of the finest in all of Germany. Try some European-Asian fusion food at Doc Cheng's, or dine outside at the Jahreszeiten Terrace.

Take a break from the teeming activity of Hamburg at the hotel's lavish spa.  The spa here offers a unique combination of treatments meant to recharge both the body and soul.  There's also a wet room, a sauna, a steam room, plunge pools, an Atlantis bathtub, a solarium, and a chaise lounge with soundblocking headsets.

Come enjoy all of the nightlife and history that the thriving port city of Hamburg has to offer, and do it in style by staying at the Fairmont Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten.
