Belmond La Residencia
Belmond La Residencia is situated in the charming coastal and mountain village of Deia on the northwest coast of Mallorca. The village was once home to Robert Graves and has been chosen as residence by a number of writers and artists. The village has spectacular views of both mountains and sea. The La Residencia has a dramatic backdrop of an amphitheatre of lofty mountain crags and offers a stunning panorama over the blue Mediterranean below. The hotel consists of four buildings; two of which date from the XVI and XVII centuries respectively and were originally manor houses. Son Fony, dates from the 18th century and was renovated four years ago. Son Fony II, is an entirely new construction but its design is totally in keeping with the other three. The buildings were first converted into a hotel in 1984, maintaining as many original features as possible. The La Residencia is now totally owned by Orient Express Hotel Group. All interiors and exteriors of the hotel are in traditional Mallorcan architectural style with furnishings and fittings of great beauty. Much of the furniture consists of antique pieces, many of these from Mallorca, which blend in with the surroundings and add charm to the building.
Throughout the La Residencia, visitors are able to admire a wonderful art collection - all work of local artists. The La Residencia has 37 doubles, 8 singles, 15 junior suites and 3 suites with private pool and a 3-bedroom villa. Fresh flowers and fruit are placed in all rooms each day. Amenities include two outdoor pools, a spa with an indoor heated pool, gymnasium, sauna, outdoor Jacuzzi, two tennis courts, steam room and beauty salon which offers a range of beauty treatments including massage, hydrotherapy, facials and general body pampering. Hairdressing and barber service a few days per week.
For fine dining at La Residencia, El Olivo Restaurant which occupies what was once the Son Moragues olive press is renowned as being one of the best restaurants in Spain. In addition, La Residencia has a more informal/casual bistro style restaurant called Son Fony, a lounge bar, pool bar/restaurant and a beach bar. Classical music concerts are organized mainly in the winter season. Art exhibitions are held throughout the year.
