Rocco Forte Verdura Resort

The Rocco Forte Collection of hotels are our favorite wherever they're located. Other luxury hotel brands often resemble one another in a way that you can’t always tell one from another. Rocco Forte luxury hotels are never similar in their décor and always take on the feeling of the area that they’re in. The new Rocco Forte Verdura Resort is a perfect example.

Located on the Sicilian coast near the fishing village of Sciacca and about one hour and thirty minutes from the Palermo airport Rocco Forte Verdura Resort is a private retreat set on 500 acres of stunning landscape amidst olive and lemon groves.  The 203 rooms all offer a real sense of privacy and space.  Natural materials such as stone, sand, wood and cane echo the traditional architecture of Sicily.  All the rooms at Rocco Forte Verdura Resort have private terraces and sea views.

There are two 18-hole championship golf courses and a 9-hole, designed by leading architect Kyle Phillips; six tennis courts; a 60m infinity swimming pool; a fully-equipped gym and running trails which meander through the olive and lemon groves at Rocco Forte Verdura Resort . The Verdura Spa has 11 treatment rooms, four thallassotherpy pools, a relaxation area, gym, swimming pool and sauna.

If all of this is not enough the surrounding area is an amazing part of Sicily waiting to be discovered by the luxury traveler with the desire to discover an area rich in history. A short drive away is the picturesque fishing port of Sciacca. You can explore its medieval alleys and baroque churches, find a seafood restaurant for lunch, then relax on one of its many sandy beaches. Further south along the coast is the ancient town of Agrigento, founded in 582BC by Greek settlers. Here you will find the unforgettable Valley of the Temples, a UNESCO World Heritage site, with the remains of eight Greek temples. In July, their illuminated columns make a beautiful backdrop to the annual Blues & Wine Soul Festival. Another spellbinding ancient site are the Ancient Greek temples at tranquil Selinunte.

Rocco Forte Verdura Resort will make history and no doubt join the ranks of the world’s most luxurious and unique resorts.

Late Summer at Rocco Forte Verdura -
I just spent several lovely days at the Rocco Forte Verdura basking in the late summer sun at this idyllic coastal resort. With its expanse of beautiful manicured golf courses surrounding the lovely rooms, suites and fantastic spa, it is a perfect place to unwind, whether you play golf or not. There are beautiful tennis courts, a fantastic pool, a fully equipped gym and several great restaurants, so there is something for everyone. With easy access to the magnificent ruins at Agrigento it is a wonderful place for a history buff or anyone with an interest in viewing some of the most magnificent Greek and Roman temples. The very efficient and warm and friendly staff will welcome you and attend to your every need. I understand that one should avoid being there in August when the temperatures swell as do all the Italian tourists…but off season it is a “real find”.
