Hotel Andra
Located in the historic Belltown district rife with restaurants, clubs and art galleries, the Hotel Andra impresses visiting business and leisure travelers since opening up a few years ago.
Done in a delightful eclectic-modern mode, the Hotel Andra blends Northwest artists with international names, such as Herman Miller and Arne Jacobsen. The striking hotel lobby displays tall ceilings, carved Italian chandeliers, polished marble, terrazzo floors and warm walnut-stained paneling. The adjoining two story lounge also has an inviting mezzanine area that overlooks the fireplace lounge below. Plush armchairs and period art add interest to the room.
The independently owned Italian restaurant, Assaggio, is a hit, though it is only open for business Monday through Friday for lunch and dinner, and only dinner is served on Saturday. Local chef and renowned restaurateur Tom Douglas is the inspiration behind Lola, offering a wonderful Greek menu that goes beyond the typical tourist dishes supped on Mykonos. All meals are served, including brunches on Saturday and Sunday.
Wainscoted hallways lead to the mostly spacious hotel guest rooms with contemporary residential styling, wood accents and modern art. All have thick doors, large windows, and the bold color schemes that display a mix of pale earth tones and primary hues. The wood-trimmed furnishings are comfortable and well-arranged. Common throughout are cushy armchairs, armoires with 27-inch TVs and wireless Internet access for a daily fee. Comfortable beds are topped with down duvets and Frette linens, and large desks have ample lighting and dual-line speakerphones with voice mail and data ports.
Hotel Andra’s old-fashioned baths pamper guests with luxurious extra-deep tubs, hand-held showerheads, pedestal sinks, toiletries, second phones and smart tiling. Studios add wet bars, refrigerators and microwave ovens upon request. The suites here are among the best bargains in the city, offering generous proportions and very good rates. The top four floors have the best city views.
Welcome perks such as free daily newspapers, umbrellas and an attentive staff, in addition to a great location and spacious well-kept rooms, make this hotel a solid alternative for upper-midrange leisure travelers and business folk who want style, comfort, service and a lively location that doesn't sink with the sunset.
